INVENTIONS

In this entry I show some inventions that were made many years ago.

The dishwashe was invented by Josephine Cochrane in 1886.















The windscreen wipers were invented by Mary Anderson in 1903.













The disposable nappies was invented by Marion Donovan in 1950.
















The tipp-Ex was invented by Bette Nesmith Graham in 1956.














The bullet-proof vest was invented by Stephanie Kwolek in 1966.





 





The vacuum cleaner was invented by William Hoover in 1908






 






The washing machine was invented by Alva Fisher in 1901.















The biro was invented by Ladislao Josef Biro in 1940.












The camera was invented by Joseph-Nicéphore Niépce in 1826.















The thelephone was invented by Antonio Meucci 1857.















The telescope was invented by  Hans Lippershey in 1608.











 The TV was invented by John Logie Baird in 1925.  






 The glue stick was invented by Henkel in 1969.



 The toilet paper was invented by Joseph Gayetty in 1857.

Text-messaging was invented by the Finnish company Nokia. They wanted to help Finnish teenagers, who were very shy. They found it easier to text their friends than to phone them.

The firts bikini was design by two Frenchmen. It was name after Bikini Atoll, the island where the atomic bomb was first tested. The Frenchmen thought that the bikini would have a silimar effect on men as a bomb exploding.

Light bulbs are create specially to last only a certain number of hours. It would be possible to make light bulbs that lasted forever, but then the manufacturers wouldn´t make so much money.

The first Harry Potter book was write in a café in Edinburgh. JK Rowling was unemployed, and dhe didn´t have enough money to pay for  heating, so she wrote it in the café where it was warmer.

Although penicilin was discover by Alexander Fleming, he didn´t know how hoe to make it into a medicine. It was first made into a medicine ten years later, by an Australian scientist Howasrd Florey.

Spiders were use as a cure for toothache in the 17th century. They were first made into a paste, an then put one the bad tooth.

Sherlock Holmes, the great detective was desing by writer Arthur Conan Doyle. Holmes was base on a real person - Doyle's teacher at medical school, who was famous for saying to his studets, 'What can tell me by just observing the patient?'
