London is the capital city of England and the United Kingdom, and the largest city, urban zone and metropolitan area in the United Kingdom, and the European Union by most measures. Located on the River Thames, London has been a major settlement for two millennia, its history going back to its founding by the Romans, who named it Londinium. London's ancient core, the City of London, largely retains its square-mile mediaeval boundaries. Since at least the 19th century, the name London has also referred to the metropolis developed around this core. The bulk of this conurbation forms the London region and the Greater London administrative area,governed by the elected Mayor of London and the London Assembly.

 These telephone booths were designed so popular, of course, by an Englishman: Sir Giles Gilbert Scott, architect of family tradition. In the UK is known for his ability to mix styles, particularly the Gothic and modernist.

The models commissioned by British Telecom (BT) have little to do with their predecessors, the users think they are ugly but useful. The four panels are glazed. At first the roof was flat, but decided to replace it with a more rounded like classic booths. Also were blue, but to make them more popular red colored their bars.

The famous double-decker buses in London, along with the typical telephone booths and Royal Mail mailboxes, up the famous triad of fixed or mobile objects fiery red decorating to the British capital, but unlike the other two, they has touched the losing ... because they are disappearing.



     Red postbox of London

One of the most typical symbols of London is the typical red mailbox. The first box in 1853 which was green, red to become a year later. To find out what time is the mailbox you have to walk you through the numbers that appear next to the initials of the monarch.
